Thekkadi - Bamboo Rafting

Wow.. it was a thrilling experience to be part of the Bamboo rafting trekking program...
Its a full day trekking program from 8 AM to 5 PM. U need to book in advance to participate in this one. Only one batch / day with maximum of 10 tourists... it costs 1000 Rs/ head..

Jungle is really beautiful in the morning....

We were there in Feb.. and at this of the year, there is very little water and the jungle is very dry....

We started at 8.15... a group of 15.. 10Tourists, 8 of them were Foreigners.. , 4 guides and an armed forest ranger...

Though its a dry season, the colours in the jungle are great...

Its nice to have a cup of tea in between... They provide breakfast and lunch along the route...

and... after more 4 km of trekking.. we were on the boats..

Typical Thekkadi view...

are the clouds generated from this stub..?

no comments.....

..and if u are fortunate enough.. you can see some wild life too... but not guaranteed..

and... we were fortunate enough to see a buch of elephants.... eight of them.. from their sizes, it seems that they are in different age groups....
......... and the most important part was. we were too fortunate to escape from them... ya.. they chased us.. but ultimately we won.. :)

Once up on a time, there was a tiger, a wild buffalo.. i dont know about the tiger's status now.. but its sure that the buffalo is now history....

and around 5 PM, we were back at the base.. a group lucky enough to be back....

An ice cream is a good idea.. if it keeps u coool....
